Percentage daily intakes and recommended dietary intakes based on the average diet of children aged 1-3 years old. ¹Percentage based on the average daily fibre requirements of children aged 1-3 years (14 g/day) as per Australian Nutrient Reference Value.

Mix 5 grams (2 level teaspoons) into plant-based milks (drink straight away), spreads such as butter, avocado, peanut butter and chocolate spread to go on top of toast or pancakes, and to make brownies and bliss balls.

Do not add Super Tummy to dairy milk, yoghurt or fruit juices as this will cause a natural fermentation process that leaves a sour aftertaste.

Store in a cool dry place below 25°C, keep container sealed.

WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?

Super Tummy has no flavours added to it, but it has been sweetened with thaumatin, so it tastes slightly sweet. It is best added to sweet or plain foods.

WHAT IS THAUMATIN?

For parents' peace of mind, rest assured that we only use natural sweeteners across all of our products. Our Super Tummy contains thaumatin, which is sourced from the katemfe fruit, Thaumatococcus daniellii, found in the West African rainforests. Thaumatin is a very sweet protein that is extremely powerful so we only need to use tiny tiny amounts of it. Just to put into perspective, stevia is 200 times sweeter than sucrose, while thaumatin is about 2000 times sweeter than sucrose! Mother nature is indeed super powerful.

IS SUPER TUMMY GLUTEN FREE?

Yes! The recipe does not contain any gluten containing ingredients and we make sure that Super Tummy is manufactured and packed in a gluten free environment.

I AM A GROW UP, CAN I HAVE THIS PRODUCT?

NO, go find some grown up food! (Jokes). Anyone can have our product. However we specifically designed this product to meet young children's needs (between 1-3 years). But anyone older than 1 year of age can take this product, including adults. The only thing is that adults need a higher amount of nutrients (example fibre and other micronutrients) when compared to young children.

IS IT PREGNANCY & BREASTFEEDING FRIENDLY?

Yes. In saying this, we do advise on all our products to seek advice from your health care professional on taking our products if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. We only say so as we believe that every pregnancy is different, taking a toll differently on each individual body in vitamin, mineral and energy levels. We invite you to research the product to ensure that you are not sensitive to any particular ingredients.

IS IT VEGAN?

Yes. Super Tummy is vegan.

WHAT ARE PREBIOTIC FIBRES?

In simple words: a prebiotic fibre is the food for good gut bacteria. A prebiotic fibre is a type of fibre that isn’t digested (broken down for absorption to enter the bloodstream) and therefore travels through your intestines where it acts as food for your good bacteria, stimulating their growth and activity. The bacteria in the intestines consume the prebiotic fibre via a process called fermentation that results in the production of SCFAs (short chain fatty acids). SCFAs are important because they act as energy/food for the cells of the colon and are beneficial for overall intestinal health.

In our Super Tummy we have 5 different prebiotic fibres:

  1. Partially Hydrolysed Guar Gum
  2. Green Banana Resistant Starch
  3. Inulin
  4. Apple Pectin
  5. Fructooligosaccharides

In the scientific world the definition of a Prebiotic is: “a selectively fermented ingredient that allows specific changes, both in the composition and/or activity in the gastrointestinal microflora that confers benefits upon host well-being and health.”

Prebiotics resist digestion in the human small intestine and reach the colon where they are fermented by the gut microflora. Although all prebiotics are fibre, not all fibre is a prebiotic. To classify a food ingredient as a prebiotic requires scientific demonstration that the ingredient:

  • Resists gastric acidity, hydrolysis by mammalian enzymes, and absorption in the upper gastrointestinal tract;
  • Is fermented by the good intestinal microflora;
  • Selectively stimulates the growth and/or activity of intestinal bacteria potentially associated with health and well-being.

WHY DO YOU HAVE 5 DIFFERENT PREBIOTIC FIBRES?

The more the merrier! Our gut contains a GIGANTIC variety of bacteria, and they all have their own “dietary requirements”, and like to eat different prebiotic fibres. So by adding a variety of prebiotic fibres, we can feed more of the good gut bacteria, and have extra beneficial effects.

WHAT IS INULIN?

Inulin is a fibre that can be extracted from a variety of food sources like jerusalem artichoke, chicory root, asparagus, leek, etc). Inulin is an effective prebiotic fibre as our body does not have the ability to digest it, but our good gut bacteria seem to love it! Inulin belongs to a class of fibres called Fructans. Our Inulin is soluble fibre that cannot be digested except through bacterial activity; its specific fermentation results in a community predominated by Bifidobacteria.

WHAT ARE FRUCTOOLIGOSACCHARIDES (AKA FOS)?

Inulin & FOS are sourced from the same raw materials (as mentioned above) and have the same molecular composition, the difference between them is their chain lengths. Inulin is characterized by longer segments, while FOS has shorter segments, leading to different fermentation processes in the gut. By combining both ingredients in the same product we can have all the goodness that these prebiotic fibres have to offer. FOS is digested in the upper portions of the colon while inulin is digested in the lower part of colon offering extra benefits to bacteria that live in different areas of the colon.

WHAT IS PARTIALLY HYDROLYSED GUAR GUM (AKA PHGG)?

Partially hydrolysed guar gum (AKA PHGG) is a soluble fibre created through the hydrolysis of guar gum. Guar gum is a popular food ingredient used as a natural thickener. However when broken down, guar gum becomes soluble and has prebiotic benefits. The fermentation of PHGG by gut bacteria is slow and leads to the creation of short chain fatty acids which are beneficial compounds that feed our gut cells.

WHAT IS GREEN BANANA RESISTANT STARCH?

Green banana is a source of resistant starch that can also act as a prebiotic fibre feeding good gut bacteria.

WHAT IS APPLE PECTIN?

Apples naturally contain fibre that can act as a prebiotic fibre, like apple pectin.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SIDE EFFECTS OF PREBIOTIC FIBRES?

Many prebiotics are associated with an increase in bloating and discomfort after consumption. This is because some prebiotics ferment quickly, whereas others are more slowly fermented.  Inulin and FOS are examples of fast fermenting fibres, this is why some people have bloating and discomfort from high doses of these prebiotics. Slower fermenting fibres, such as PHGG, gradually ferment and slowly produce the SCFA’s.

Our product has been tested and approved by our own Nutra Families, and we have kept the prebiotic fibre dosage at “tummy comfortable level”. At Nutra we know that with great ingredients come great powers, so we advise you to give 1 serve of our Super Tummy to your kid and monitor to see how they feel. As with other food products that contain fibre, our super product may cause abdominal discomfort dependent on the child and dose. If your little one experiences any discomfort, we suggest to lower your dose and gradually increase to an optimum daily intake of 1 serve per day.

WHAT IS THE PROBIOTIC ADDED TO SUPER TUMMY?

BC30® is just the most famous probiotic strain Probiotic BC30® (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) on the market! BC30® is a patented, award-winning branded probiotic. It is well researched and has several published articles which demonstrate its health benefits, including: digestive support, immune support, protein utilization. It is a spore forming probiotic that is able to survive higher temperatures, oxygen exposure, and the low pH of your stomach meaning it is still alive when it enters your gut and will be fully effective.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT PROBIOTIC(S)?

The probiotic world is a complex place. Just to put that into perspective, we're talking 90% bacteria and 10% human cells! So we have 10 times more bacterial cells in our body than we have human cells. (Some people argue that “they are not really OUR bacteria, we are THEIR human”). Our microbiome can weigh up to 1.5kg

  • 10’s of trillions of bacteria live in our gut, 300-500 different species of bacteria
  • 2/3 of the human microbiota are completely unique to each individual. This means that the composition of microbiota in your intestine is like a fingerprint

So how do we choose the right probiotic/bacteria? Below are some of the most important factors to consider when shopping for probiotics, and be assured that our probiotic BC30®  ticks all the boxes!

  • Is it shelf stable?
  • Is it acid resistant? Can it survive the acidity of our stomach and reach our gut where it is supposed to have its magic effect?
  • Is it resilient? Meaning can it colonise our gut and stay there and start a new family?
  • What is the right dosage?

HOW MUCH FIBRE DO YOU HAVE PER SERVE?

In each 5 grams serve of our product, we offer 2.5 grams of dietary fibre (18% of kids daily intake).

CAN SUPER TUMMY BE TAKEN WITH OTHER PROBIOTIC SUPPLEMENTS?

There is no harm in taking another product containing probiotics. Super Tummy contains 1 strain of a probiotic, a very special and potent one, however our gut contains millions of bacteria, so in saying that the more probiotics you can take the merrier, just ensure they are effective ones like ours.

IF MY CHILD IS CONSTIPATED CAN THEY TAKE SUPER TUMMY ?

Alongside with a healthy and varied diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables that naturally contain fibre, taking Super Tummy is a great option to further boost your kids fibre intake and help their tummies to get moving. Very important to say that when more fibre is added to anyone’s diet, especially kids, water intake is fundamental to make a smooth transition. As with any other products that contain fibre, if not enough water is consumed throughout the diet the bulking of stools can happen and lead to constipation, so make sure your little ones are well hydrated throughout the day.

Even though Super Tummy is one of our Super Hero products, it is only a food product, in saying that if your child experiences pain or discomfort and requires medical intervention then is it always best to speak with your child’s health care practitioner.

IF MY CHILD HAS LOOSE STOOLS CAN THEY TAKE SUPER TUMMY ?

Yes they can.  Although fibre is commonly associated with relieving constipation, it can also help loose watery stool by providing added bulk. It’s all about balance. Having said that, persistent loose watery stool or diarrhea can be caused by illness or infection, so seek advice from your medical professional if you are at all concerned.

CAN I GIVE ALL 5 KIDS PRODUCTS AT ONCE TO MY CHILD?

The answer is yes, but on separate occasions so that the tiny bodies have time to absorb and process all the goddesses within our Super Hero Products.

HOW MANY TIMES PER DAY CAN MY KID HAVE SUPER TUMMY?

We would recommend your child to have 2 serves per day, in spaced intervals, for example morning and afternoon. And remember that as any other products that contain fibre, some discomfort can happen at the beginning while the body is adjusting.

WHY WOULD MY CHILD NEED THIS PRODUCT?

Like many people say, the gut is like our second brain and is connected to a variety of functions within our bodies. It is essential that we look after our tiny human tummies from a young age and provide them with good gut nourishment. Our product will restore tiny tummies from the inside out with prebiotic fibres, probiotics, polyphenols, soothing botanicals and many other ingredients. So this product is suitable for anyone including kids with low fibre intake, gut flora imbalance, constipation, etc.

CAN I BAKE WITH SUPER TUMMY, OR WILL I KILL THE PROBIOTIC?

Sure you can! That is why our product is so special, as we have the one and only BC30 probiotic that resists baking. The challenge with formulating probiotic foods and beverages is that many strains on the market are more fragile and require refrigeration. If BC30 could talk it would say, “challenge accepted”. BC30 is made with a naturally-protective outer layer, so you can bake it, boil it, freeze it or squeeze it and it won’t be affected. It will survive most processing conditions, other probiotics won’t, allowing it to provide the benefits your consumers want.

For example, the most common probiotics on the market are strains of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. However these microorganisms require very specific environments (like refrigeration) to remain viable. Often found in fermented dairy products, these strains typically cannot be used in products that are shelf-stable or heated. They are also not particularly resistant to high heat and tend to be sensitive to the extremities of acid and alkaline conditions, as found in the stomach. Studies have shown that most microorganisms are quickly killed off in the harsh, acidic environment of the stomach and upper digestive tract. And because these bacteria are fragile, they require refrigeration to remain viable.

Whereas BC30 has a protective cover around it, making it the perfect solution for shelf stable food products that survive through the gastrointestinal tract.

ARE THE CANISTERS RECYCLABLE?

Yes they are.

WHY HAVE YOU ADDED DIGESTIVE ENZYMES?

Digestive enzymes are a key ingredient in our product, as they help tiny tummies to digest and utilize the nutrients within it.

Enzyme

Function

Protease

Enzyme responsible for breaking down proteins in our food into amino acids.

Amylase

Enzyme responsible for breaking down carbohydrates in our food into sugars.

Lipase

Enzyme responsible for breaking down fats (triglycerides) in our food into fatty acids.

Cellulase

Enzymes are used to break down the cellulose of plant cell walls into simple sugars that can be transformed (fermented) by microbes.

Lactase

Enzyme responsible for breaking down lactose (sugar found in milk) into simple sugars.

WHAT ARE POLYPHENOLS?

Our Super Tummy contains grape seed polyphenols which have been measured on the nutrition panel and offer multiple health benefits for gut wellbeing.

Polyphenols are naturally occurring compounds found in fruits, vegetables, cereals. Fruits like grapes, apples, cherries and berries are some of  the most popular sources.
In food, polyphenols contribute to the bitterness, astringency, colour, flavour and odour. Polyphenols are potent antioxidants and also have a prebiotic-like effect in feeding our gut and promoting a healthy microbiome. This also helps us to unlock the benefits of these antioxidants as they are able to be absorbed by us after fermentation.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF YOUR MINERALS & VITAMIN?

We have added natural sources of 4 key gut supporting micronutrients such as:

  • Calcium (coming from arctic sea algae)
  • Magnesium (coming from arctic sea algae and green banana resistant starch)
  • Zinc (guava leaf extract)
  • Vitamin C (wildcrafted sea buckthorn)

Together they further enhance the gut supporting benefits of our product.

WHY HAVE YOU ADDED SOOTHING BOTANICALS TO THIS PRODUCT?

The interplay of plants and human health has been documented for thousands of years. Herbs have been integral to both traditional and non-traditional forms of medicine dating back at least 5000 years. The growing popularity of herbal medicines may be explained by the tendency of herbs to work slowly, and synergistically. Super Tummy contains four botanicals known to support the gut and sooth the digestive system. Our chosen botanicals are turmeric, ginger, lemon balm and licorice root.

CAN CHILDREN UNDER ONE YEAR OF AGE CONSUME SUPER TUMMY?

Unfortunately, Super Tummy is not suitable for children under the age of one as it is not designed to be a sole source of nutrition and doesn’t fit the very specific criteria for foods suitable for infants.
